Tanner, Keaton and Regan – I Love You and Miss You

I just miss you. Tanner, Keaton and Regan Riley are three gifts from God. That’s not just a trite statement. They are gifts from the creator of the universe.

From the One Who gives breath.

From the One Who conquered death.

From the One Who created the circles of life and Who sustains all things.

From the One Who Is.

He gave Tara and me these three children. I can’t get over that.

Tanner, the oldest, born December 3, 1998, now 10 years old. One who lives in a world of beauty, joy, poetry, music and amazement. One who notices the colors of the sunset, the brilliance of the leaves, the finery of Mom’s earrings. One who hates to see anything hurt or sad. He loves life, feels deeply, and desires to do what’s right.

Keaton, who came next, born June 8, 2001, now 7 years old. One who lives in a world of justice, righteousness, fairness, and excellence. One who notices the speed of the gecko, the heart of a dog, the importance of physical touch. One who hates to see anything taken advantage of. He loves life, games, and desires to make things right.

Regan, who came third, born January 27, 2004, now 5 years old. One who lives in a world of reality, intensity, focus, and discernment. One who notices the spirit behind the words, the one behind the eyes, the depth of one’s soul. One who hates to see anything left undone. She loves life, serving others, and desires to be right.

I last saw my three beautiful children on an icy day, when there was no electricity in Fayetteville, last Wednesday, January 28th. I miss them terribly. I long to see them, hear them, hold them, smell them, and be with them. May we soon be reunited and live this life abundantly for our Lord Jesus together.
