Yes, I am asking. What is your biggest fear? What fear sometimes occupies your thoughts?
What is Your Biggest Fear?
Responses
Occasionally, a wave of what I felt when I was about 7 and realized I was going to die, sweeps in. The thought of not being any more. It lasts a couple seconds .. normally at night .. and only until I remind myself that I trust God and Jesus’ accomplished work.
It goes away immediately, f not instantly.
Aside from that, at age 70, I can’t really think of any other abiding fears.

I have often been a person who felt like I didn’t have a lot of fears, but it seems lately I have been exposed a bit by the stresses of life and realize that I often am just good at suppressing fear.
I seem to dislike losing control. I fear things being out of my hands, yet all of life as a follower of Christ is to learn to release everythign and put it in the hands of God. How little my faith is sometimes!

My biggest fear is that of Eowyn’s — when Aragorn asks her “what do you fear, my lady?” she responds: “a cage. To stay behind bars until use and old age accept them and all chance of valor has gone beyond recall or desire.”
Horses need to be broken before they’re of greatest benefit to their masters. Jesus has been taking me through a similar process. It’s not easy, but I know that in the end I’ll look back on the times when I was chastened and realize that God was absolutely doing the right thing.

Beth, LOL. Fear of losing someone can be a strong fear. Would that ever cause you to be controlling or overprotective?

Jared, thoughtful and well said response. I’m praying for you. Keep remembering, even in the trial, that God is always good and always loving.
