The Shack

The ShackI’ve finally read William P. Young’s “The Shack.” I’m on the bandwagon. Read it. It is worth your time, money, and careful consideration. Here’s a few quotes from the book:

“Life takes a bit of time and a lot of relationship.”

“I don’t need to punish people for sin. Sin is its own punishment, devouring you from the inside. It’s not my purpose to punish it; it’s my joy to cure it.”

“The problem is that many folks try to grasp some sense of who I am by taking the best version of themselves, projecting that to the nth degree, factoring in all the goodness they can perceive, which often isn’t much, and then call that God. And while it may seem like a noble effort, the truth is that it falls pitifully short of who I really am….”

“Son, this is not about shaming you. I don’t do humiliation or guilt, or condemnation. They don’t produce one speck of wholeness or righteousness, and that is why they were nailed into Jesus on the cross.”

Responses

I haven’t yet read the book, but am wanting to do so. I’ve heard so many good things being said about “The Shack” and am hoping to get hold of a copy in the near future.

I am sure you will enjoy it, Guy.
