“Hidden” Idols - The High Places in our Hearts

Jamie Arpin-Ricci is a thought provoking blogger and fellow YWAMer. He recently wrote about “Finding Our Idols.” He relates a difficult story about early Christian missionaries’ “work” with the Mayan Indians. Apparently the missionaries forced the Mayans to tear down their temples and build churches out of the ruins. Unbeknownst to the Europeans, the Mayans did as they were told, but they included hidden idols from their native religions inside the walls of the newly built cathedrals. These hidden idols were only recently discovered.

As Jamie noted, this has parallels to our society and our culture, don’t you think?Mayan ruins

Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.

See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.

Trust in your heart and do not copy others. God knows who you are so don’t hide from him for what you will, God will honor and if you deny who you are by copying others God will not find you. and you will have to look for him again. Be who you are. Others must be who they are. Be who you are so that God can find you. The most feared is not Satan, but God
for He is the truth.—Doug Rosbury
