Do You Know That You Are Loved?

Remember that silly, but very real and overwhelming, feeling you had when you first felt loved by your future spouse or by someone very important to you? Even if you got stuck in traffic or were sick with the flu you still had a sense of euphoria that made even bad days seem okay.

Do you know that you are loved?

Then why does the slow driver in front of you get under your skin so much?

Do you know that you are loved?

Then why do you feel like your world is ending because your wife or husband just yelled at you?

Do you know that you are loved?

Then why do you get so upset that you are sick? Or that your favorite ball team just lost? Or that gas is $3.00 a gallon? Or that Starbucks doesn’t fit in your budget anymore?

Do you know that you are loved? And it isn’t just a cute boy or girl on the other side of that love. It is Love Himself. It is the King of all kings. It is the One who is infinite, yet personal, and He loves you intimately and individually. If you know that you are loved, then the daily circumstances of life, no matter how difficult, suddenly become things to be thankful for because you can see how God is loving you through them all. It changes your life. It changes your attitude. It changes your heart. It changes your actions. Do you know that you are loved?

Either you believe it - and know it - or you don’t.

I have been dwelling on this lately. Also wrote a song based on the words from Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 3:14-19. I pray that we would all know love and not just from earthly beings. Isn’t it cool when you experience love from another human though that our body, carefully and wonderfully made, produces endorphins that help us feel better physically? Our God is great and IS love. Lovely post. ;-)

That is an amazing aspect of how God made us, Laura. Thank you for a great (and lovely) observation!
