The lines in this song that stand out to me are, But would it set me free If I dared to let you see The truth behind the person That you imagine me to be We are so frightened to let anyone see the real us. We live our "mask" lives as though that were the real us. After years of living this way we become the mask, and lose our real selves. Music–the arts in general–have a way of bringing out truth like no other mediums.

Keeping up our plasticity, while seemingly good for a while, is simply wasted effort, if you ask me. I'd even go so far as to say that in large part, it's sin... aren't we telling lies or bearing false witness about ourselves to keep up our perfect plastic portrayals?
