Church Planting Makes a Difference

Tonight in a brief conversation with one of the other missionaries training here at The King’s Lodge in Nuneaton, England, I learned something that excited me. Mirkhan and her husband, Ilham, are from Uzbekistan. They are here in England as missionaries. There likely aren’t many Uzbek missionaries in this world… yet. But these two are here today because of a church plant just six years ago by the Antioch Community Church (of Waco, Texas) in their community in Uzbekistan. They became followers of Jesus and the rest, as they say, is history. That is a huge part of what this is all about, ladies and gentlemen. People taking Jesus with them everywhere they go, teaching others to follow Jesus, too, and that cycle repeating itself all over the world. Go!

Bryan, I’m not sure, but I think Antioch CC is the same church my friend, John Brown ( http://www.1723initiative.org/ ), is associated with out in Waco! He has spoken at many conferences out in Waco at a “church planting” church. I looked at their web site, and it sounds like it could be the same place.

I believe it may be the same church that Heather Mercer is associated with, or was. She is one of the “M”’s that was kidnapped in Afghanistan back in 2001 (I think) but was released a few weeks later due to world pressure…

Anyway, it could be one of those Godincidences. I have to wait for John to get back into town so I can ask him.

Uzbekistan, wow. And they are headed to the Phillipines too? Or going back home to minister there?

It is the same church that Heather Mercer came from. Mirkhan shared that with me last night, too. Sounds like a neat place to go visit if ever in the Waco area!

So, Bryan, are these two going back to Uzbekistan or to the Phillipines with you?

Oh, sorry, Marie. Actually, they are going to stay in England for another year, being further trained in biblical studies and beginning to train others in the same. From there I’m not sure what their plans are. I think their plans are to continue to take the gospel to cultures outside of their own. it is amazing to see someone from what many might consider to be a 2d or 3d world country share God’s love in other cultures. Especially because often people think the only missionaries are those from America. The reality is far from that.
