5 Things I Dig About Jesus Meme

I don’t think I’ve ever participated in a meme on my blog, but I liked this one and just happened along at the right time to participate. John Smulo, who maintains a fantastic blog, just created this meme.

1. Those Tagged will share 5 things they dig about Jesus.
2. Those tagged will tag 5 other bloggers.
3. Those tagged will provide a link in the comments section here of their meme so that others can read them.

Here are 5 Things I Dig About Jesus:

1. Jesus left the Kingdom of Heaven to become a slave on earth to die for me.
2. Jesus loved Mary, who simply sat at His feet because He simply longs for relationship with us.
3. Jesus wept and Jesus partied; He was really human and yet perfectly divine.
4. Jesus didn’t leave us alone upon His return to the Father; He left the Comforter with us.
5. Jesus took extra time for doubting Thomas.

Please feel free to participate in the meme at your blog whether tagged specifically here or not. And please feel free to include five things you dig about Jesus in the comments.

Now, I tag the following 5 wonderful bloggers:

*Paul Littleton
*Alan Cross
*Alan Knox
*Greg Olmsted
*Kevin Bussey

Thanks for participating my friend. Appreciate your responses.

1. He put on flesh, lived the perfect life, taught me how to live in Him, then bought me with His life.

2. He, the Word, the Creator, actually lives in me.

3. He uses me to accomplish His will.

4. He intercedes when I know not what to pray.

5. He loves me anyway…

5 Things I Dig About Jesus

1. He makes me happy when I’m sad.
2. He helps me find my way when I’m lost.
3. He forgives me when I sin.
4. He listens when I need to talk.
5. He loves me unconditionally.

Bryan,

Thanks for the tag. I’ve posted my list here. I like this meme so much that I’m going to blog about each of my five things this week.

John Smulo,

As is obvious from the ripples about the net, this was a fantastic idea for a meme. Perhaps you are beginning again the Jesus movement of the 70s? :)

Kevin, consistent with your recovering pharisee theme, I love your comment about how Jesus is patient with recovering legalists like yourself.

Bryan,

I won’t hold my breath on that! But thanks for the encouragement :-)

Marie… what a reminder… He lives in us … the Creator lives in us!!!!

John Parker… fantastic. He loves us unconditionally, and He first loved us, even while we didn’t care one whit about Him.

Alan, fantastic idea and I love what you say about how Jesus loves people more than rituals. Many may not realize how ritualistic they are or how those rituals tear down relationships because ritual is such a big religious word that sounds like something someone else surely must do (but not me).

John Smulo,

Given Alan Knox’s and others’ responses, perhaps God has given you the seedling of the 2000s version of the 1970s Jesus movement. It’s been a generation…

Simple and profound- I love it!

Bryan,
Great answers! I especially like that Jesus partied. That is an aspect of Him that I am coming to know and appreciate.

Thanks, Sally and Grace. Jesus was simple and profound, so I’m glad that my answers seemed that way.

Thanks for the tag. My answers are here.

Hi, all, thanks for playing along with the meme! It’s great to see what others think about Jesus, and it’s great to think on these things.

Carl from RevivalBlog tagged me. So, I threw in my hat. Here are a few things I dig about Jesus:

1: Jesus digs puns
2: Jesus digs children
3: Jesus digs stories
4: Jesus digs naps
5: Jesus digs freaks and geeks

Okay, maybe not overly spiritual. But if you want to see my rationale, see my post:
