Well, I just learned through Francoise (you know her from Kevin Bussy’s blog) that wanker in Aussie-speak means jerk! Of course, wanger is a different word from wanker…so I guess you’re not a champion jerk. That’s a relief!

Did you win a one-legged race while lasso-ing a welly? Or maybe you were balancing on a water-wheel while whistling “Where oh where has my Welly Went” thereby proving you were the best wanger around?

Sorry it took me a while to answer the question… Bob, you were close in that a Wellington is a type of boot (in addition to being a city) and wanging is throwing. So, I had to throw a boot as far as I could. I happened to throw it the furthest and won the contest.

It might interest some to know that this took place at our children’s elementary school (they say primary school) here in England (and no I wasn’t competing against the children). We had a fair where the community came and played games and the like. What was interesting was that many of the games and raffles involved liquor, even though it was at and for an elementary school. I didn’t actually know what the prize would be for becoming a champion welly wanger, but the prize I won was a bottle of Merlot.

So how was the apple-pan dowdy? I take it the pie was OK….
