What you write is so encouraging!

The God that we serve is boundless and when I, truely, stand and watch I become speechless. That is the importance of renewing our mind - to be still and a let God. The World wants us to act - respond - move - plan - and that jiration usually leads to words and actions spent unwisely.

The silence that you see at times says more about what you are writing - like the silence in some sermons - shows that God is speaking - not man.

Continue to share what God is showing you. That is showing your heart - one owned by God. That is what people need and want.

Be encouraged - In Christ!

Alan,

My wife would probably like for me to do a blog fast at times. :)

And, she would probably also like for me to do a talking fast, as opposed to talking fast. :)

Steve, your emails, both directly to us and en masse, have been a great encouragement. It has been wonderful to see your journey, too.

Yes, that is a hard teaching. No man can tame it, but God can.

Bryan,

I am one of those who visit your site at least 2-3 times a week. Our stories are very similar in that, even though a successful secular career had been established, God called us into a life of career missions. I was moved by your 'step of faith' post from several weeks ago, particularly the faith you described in raising your own support. I received a note from Tara's sister, Tammy, this morning and she told me you guys will be visiting Conway this weekend. I understand that you may be speaking during AWANA time Sunday. My wife and I will be singing during "big church" Sunday night, so I won't be there during "share time". However, my two children, Elizabeth and Noah, will both be present and I look forward to hearing what wisdom they glean from your time together. I hope our paths cross this weekend, but if not, know that your family remains on my missionary prayer list. What an awesome gift you are presenting to your children!!

As for this post on the tongue...as you know, the tongue (or references to the tongue) is mentioned throughout the book of James. For me, the verse that just really gets my attention is from James 1:26 - "If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless." It's a hard pill for me to swallow when I think about times when my tongue becomes unleashed. It doesn't matter how much I pray, how much I serve Him, how many hours I spend in the Word...as His Word says, if I don't keep a tight rein on my tongue, it is for nothing.

Again, may God continue to be heard through your words and through your faith.

In Christ alone,
Steve

Would that include not blogging? My wife would probably suggest that I could go without speaking, but not without blogging.
