Yes, yes yes.. you are reading my mind-or perhaps my post. No, I think you posted this one first.
I found a song by Christ Rice-looking for another song, so I bought the cd. I heard this song about ‘come on Becky’ and it blew me away.
You may know it, but the lyrics really spoke to me. Unlike the book “the normal Christain life,” or “the Barbarian Way” it seems ‘the normal Christain life’ has somehow resigned us to be more like Becky’s- yes we love Jesus, go to church, pray at dinner, keep a journal, go to Bible study, do do do.’ Even more (this part really got me) we are thankful that God showed us mercy, to the point that we might weep on occasion when hearing Amazing Grace. After doing all this, repeatively week after week…. where do we go?
This is, unfortunately, the normal Christain life, church life as we know it.
I know I sound like the wicked witch of the west-and something is indeed ‘brewing’ in me, but I am confident it isn’t evil. I’m just dissatisfied with the ole status quo of ‘church as usual.’ In fact, I’m sick of ‘me as usual.’ I want more. Dare I say it-I want to be one listed in the pages of Hebrews 11, if not there, whispered in the breath of the Lord Jesus, ‘well done.’
I’m preaching (whatever am I thinkin’ I can’t do that ) sorry.
